I had one of those mornings where nothing seemed to go right.
I spilled coffee on an important document, missed a few deadlines, and watched my to-do list grow longer by the minute.
To top it off, my toddler was tugging at my leg, begging me to play.
I felt so overwhelmed, torn between the demands of my career and the needs of my family.
In that moment, I'll admit, I was close to losing it.
But then, my son looked up at me with the sweetest smile and said, "Mama, I'm here."
His simple gesture of love and affirmation was exactly what I needed.
In that instant, my stress melted away, and I realized that I needed to make a change.
You see, I had been so focused on trying to do everything perfectly that I was losing sight of what really mattered - the precious moments with my family.
I had become consumed by my to-do list,
constantly striving for productivity and efficiency,
but at what cost?
That's when I decided to take a step back and reevaluate my priorities.
I realized that it's okay to pause, to take a deep breath, and to simply enjoy the small moments.
So, I put aside my work for a bit, and I played with my son.
And you know what?
It was exactly what I needed.
My mood lifted, and I felt a sense of rejuvenation that I hadn't experienced in a long time.
Later, when my son was napping, I was able to tackle some of my outstanding tasks.
Was it perfect?
No, of course not.
But you know what?
This was progress, and that's what counts.
The truth is, we can't do everything perfectly, and that's okay.
What's important is that we take care of ourselves,
that we prioritize the things that truly matter,
and that we give ourselves the grace to make mistakes and learn from them.
So, if you're feeling overwhelmed, I encourage you to take a step back and reassess your priorities.
Ask yourself, "What's really important to me right now?" and then make a conscious effort to focus on those things.
It might mean saying "no" to some commitments, delegating tasks, or simply taking a few moments each day to pause and enjoy the present moment.
Remember, you're not alone in this journey.
We're all navigating the challenges of balancing work, family, and our own well-being.
When you care for yourself, accept imperfections, and focus on what truly matters, joy becomes visible amidst the chaos.
So, what's one small step you can take today to reclaim your sense of balance and well-being?
Maybe it's scheduling a lunch break to enjoy a peaceful meal, or setting aside 15 minutes for a calming meditation.
Whatever it is, I encourage you to take that first step and see how it positively impacts your day.
Until then, remember to be kind to yourself and to celebrate the small victories.
You've got this!
Your friend,
Jenni Delos Reyes
